This honour acknowledges and appreciates Amman’s impact - a tribute to someone who not only demonstrated good leadership, but also made significant contributions to major innovations in academia. He also rendered outstanding service to society.

Amman retired 6 months ago after an impressive career that began at the predecessor of the Amsterdam School of Economics. Originally trained as an economist, he grew into a leading figure in academic governance. He held various executive positions, including the Vice Presidency of the Executive Boards at TU Eindhoven, Utrecht University, and the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

Amman also played a key role in the development of science parks in Eindhoven, Utrecht, and Amsterdam. At UvA Economics and Business, he served as interim programme director, playing a pivotal role in the accreditation of the Bachelor’s in Business Analytics and the Master’s in Data Science and Business Analytics.
