The section is formed by 3 fields of study: Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance, Equilibrium, Expectations & Dynamics, and UvA Econometrics. Each of these fields is represented in a research programme.
The research programme of Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance concerns both fundamental and applied research in the field of financial and economic risk management.
The objective of the Equilibrium, Expectations & Dynamics programme is the development of (mathematical) economic theory, focusing on the understanding of economic processes.
The UvA-Econometrics programme aims at improving the accuracy, efficiency and robustness of econometric methods. It is a collaboration of about a dozen researchers in econometrics from the University of Amsterdam.
