Climate change is affecting the world in many different ways, making it a significant challenge to the insurance industry. You will address questions such as: how can we quantify the risk of damage from natural disasters? How should we adjust our estimates and forecasts to take into account more frequent and more severe disasters? And how many reserves should be put aside to cover possible future claims? These questions are also relevant for governments and regulatory bodies, as reliable and affordable insurance is essential for a well-functioning economy.
The Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance Honours programme (15EC) is taken concurrently within your 1-year Master's Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance. Besides being able to choose your specialisation track, the Honours programme adds 2 extra courses and a research project to your Master's.
