How to apply
  • 1. Check the deadlines

For non-EU/EEA students with an international (non-Dutch) degree

If you are applying for a scholarship 1 March 2025
If you require a Visa or would like to apply for UvA Housing 1 April 2025

For EU/EEA students with an international (non-Dutch) degree

If you would like to apply for UvA Housing 1 April 2025
If you do not want to apply for UvA Housing 1 May 2025
  • 2. Check the entry requirements

The Admissions Office will evaluate your eligibility based on the following criteria:

    • Secondary school diploma
    • English proficiency
    • Mathematics proficiency
    • Dutch proficiency (additional requirement for the Dutch track)
  • 3. Register in Studielink
  • 4. Check your personal enrolment checklist in SIS

After registering in Studielink, you will receive your UvAnetID. This will give you access to check the status of your personal enrolment checklist in SIS. There you find the subsequent steps that you need to take in order to complete your enrolment.

  • 5. Submit your online application in SIS 'My Applications'

In order to check if you are eligible for the programme you need to upload and submit your documents in SIS under 'My Applications'.

We expect you to submit your completed application within 14 days after registering in Studielink. If you haven't submitted it within this period, you will receive a reminder. If you miss the second deadline as well, your application in SIS and your registration in Studielink will be cancelled. If you are still interested in the programme, you need to start again by re-registering in Studielink and submitting a new application.

Students with an international secondary school diploma in combination with a HBO-P can skip this step.

  • 6. Wait for the admission results

You will receive your (conditional) results within 4 to 6 weeks after you submitted a fully completed application form. The earlier you apply, the sooner you will know the outcome.

After (conditional) admission
  • 7. Confirm your participation

You can confirm your participation from the moment you have been conditionally accepted to the programme. You reserve your place in the programme, and let us know you would like to study with us. Confirm your participation in the programme as soon as possible, and before the deadline stated in your email.

How: Login to SIS, click on 'confirm' and choose one of the options.

If you have doubts, note that your confirmation is not binding. You can cancel your request for enrolment in Studielink at any time. However, a timely confirmation will allow us to continue all administrative procedures.

  • 8. Participate in UvA Matching

UvA Matching is an online introduction to the Bachelor’s programme. It is designed to assess whether the programme is a good fit for you.

  • 9. Pay the tuition fee

Your tuition fee needs to be credited to the UvA’s bank account 1 day before your degree programme starts at the latest, so 31 August for a September start.

  • 10. Arrange practical matters

If you have received the great news that you are (conditionally) admitted to the programme, it's time to focus on other essential matters like arranging a visa (if necessary), finding accommodation, and preparing for the start of your academic journey. We will inform you per email about these topics when (conditionally) admitted.
