The Amsterdam Centre for European Studies (ACES) Promotes interdisciplinary synergy and collaboration between academic researchers across the university’s faculties. The centre is a university Research Priority Area involving 4 faculties, including UvA Economics and Business.

In addition to promoting interdisciplinary research, ACES aims to:

  • Raising the academic profile, reputation, and impact of scholarly research on contemporary Europe at the UvA;
  • Increase the wider visibility and policy impact of European research at the UvA while enhancing the quality of the public debate on contemporary Europe, by engaging a variety of audiences within and beyond the Netherlands.

George Monnet Centre of Excellence

ACES was recently once again recognised as a George Monnet Centre of Excellence. Within this framework, ACES will conduct research on themes such as 'A Europe fit for the digital age' and 'An economy that works for people'. These and other themes  are potentially interesting for EB researchers. EB scholars can find out more about opportunities for interdisciplinary research on the ACES website.
