What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy the freedom this job brings. I am in a position where I can explore approaches to my work that work best for me and focus my efforts on the topics I am interested in. Another aspect I value about my job is that I constantly get to meet new people. This could be through colleagues and their connections or by going to seminars and conferences. It is interesting to see what other people are working on and it motivates me for my own work.

What research from the past year are you most proud of?

My research focuses on Explainable Machine Learning. Last year, I started working on a method that I feel has a lot of potential  in practice. My colleagues and I got our work on this topic accepted for a workshop at one of the major conferences in machine learning. I was able to travel to New Orleans and present our work. I went alone, which was a little out of my comfort zone, but this also pushed me forward in a good way. I am proud of our work on this topic and that I had a successful conference visit.

What don’t most colleagues know about you?

I don’t consider myself a creative person, but I enjoy making music and crafting things. Lately, I’m into drawing with watercolours and crafting my own bookmarks, gift cards, and other things. I also sort my apps on my phone by colour.
