HC is empirically driven and relies on microeconometric techniques to study important microeconomic issues in the areas of labour economics, economics of education, family economics, environmental economics and development economics. Particular emphasis is paid to the identification of causal mechanisms, the analysis of existing policies and policy changes on a variety of microeconomic outcomes, and the design and implementation of experiments to carefully evaluate policy interventions and their microeconomic consequences.

The staff of the HC programme consists of faculty members and PhD students.

Collaboration with the Tinbergen Institute

Faculty members of the HC programme participate in the research and teaching of the Tinbergen Institute. This is the graduate school and research institute operated jointly by the Schools of Economics and Econometrics of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), University of Amsterdam (UvA) and VU University Amsterdam (VU).

Seminar Series

The Tinbergen Institute organises the Labor Economics Seminar Series. This takes place every Tuesday between 16:00 - 17:15 at the Tinbergen Institute Amsterdam (TIA).
