Van Bilsen (Quantitative Economics section) was invited as keynote speaker at an international conference held in Bogotá, Colombia in early September. This Latinoamérica Pension Day 2025 event, hosted by the Universidad de los Andes, featured participants from academia, government and industry. In his keynote address Connecting Accumulation and Decumulation Phases, Van Bilsen highlighted the strength of the Dutch pension system: its focus on generating sustainable pension income rather than merely accumulating assets.

The purpose of the conference was to connect academic perspectives, strategic government decisions, and innovative industry solutions for a fair and sustainable pension system.
Journalists and politicians were also present at the conference and the ASE researcher was interviewed by a national television broadcaster.
