Amsterdam School of Economics researcher Cars Hommes has been ranked number 2 in the ESB ranking of the top economists at universities in the Netherlands. This ranking, renamed this year as the 'Economenparade', is based on the quality of articles published in international journals as well as the societal impact of these publications.

For the first time, the individual rankings also look at the relationship between the researcher's work and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Professor Hommes' (ASE Quantitative Economics section) research interests include behavioural macroeconomics, experimental macroeconomics & finance and behavioural finance. 4 other UvA Economics and Business researchers were also included in the ranking: Menno Pradhan, Arthur Schram, Thomas Buser, and Henk Volberda. More information (in Dutch) about how the ranking was compiled can be found on the ESB website.
