Boswijk succeeds professor Roel Beetsma who will become dean of UvA EB starting 1 February. As chair, he also takes on the role of Vice-Dean and is a member of the Faculty Board. The EB Works Council has endorsed Boswijk’s appointment.

One of the founders of ASE

‘In addition to being someone with considerable academic achievements, Peter Boswijk also has extensive management experience. He was previously Research Director of ASE and he has twice held the position of head of the Quantitative Economics section, performing admirably in both roles. What’s more, Peter is one of the founders of the ASE’, says current ASE chair Roel Beetsma.

 ‘I’m confident that Peter will ensure that ASE’s upward trend in research, teaching and valorisation will continue. He’ll do this using his usual calm and deliberate approach, along with the broad support he enjoys among his ASE colleagues. At the faculty level he will contribute to a faculty that is performing well and increasingly becoming more professional, with high ambitions in both the international and domestic arena.’

Continue strengthening current initiatives

Peter Boswijk: ‘There have been some extremely positive developments at ASE over the past 10 years, and much of this is thanks to the tireless efforts of chair Roel Beetsma. My intention is to further strengthen the initiatives started during the past few years. In this context I‘ll focus on the international recruitment of a diverse group of employees, and on bringing our research and education activities more in line with the evolving demands of science and society. I look forward to working with ASE academic and support staff to achieve these goals in the coming years through my position in the ASE Management Team and the UvA EB Faculty Board.'

About Peter Boswijk

Peter Boswijk is professor of Financial Econometrics and a Tinbergen Institute Research Fellow. His research has been published in international econometrics journals and he has supervised 15 doctoral candidates. He has developed courses in the subject areas of econometrics and financial mathematics in the bachelor’s, master’s and Executive programmes. Similarly, he has also developed courses for the Tinbergen Master of Philosophy in Economics programme. He has additionally held a variety of management positions, most recently as the head of the Quantitative Economics section.
