Frans Timmermans, the Dutch minister of Foreign Affairs will be the guest in Room for Discussion on Monday, 16 September. Room for Discussion is a debate platform for students at the UvA's Faculty of Economics and Business.
Room for Discussion students will speak about the changing balance of power in the world and how this relates to politics, diplomacy and economics. Some of the subjects they will cover include the Arab Spring, the threat posed by Syria and the role of the Netherlands and the UN Security Council. The international politics of energy and modern diplomacy will also be discussed.
Room for Discussion is the discussion platform of the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Economics and Business. Every week, students interview prominent academics, politicians and business leaders on a variety of subjects related to economics and society. The public is invited to take part in the debate and question featured guests. Room for Discussion recently hosted guests such as Eurogroup chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem, former CEO of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata, managing director of the IMF Christine Lagarde, DNB president Klaas Knot and ECB president Mario Draghi.
Room for Discussion will start at 13.30 in de main lobby of the E-building of
the Faculty of Economics and Business, Roetersstraat 11. Admission is free.
