This is a mid-career award given once every two years to a researcher who has recently completed the first stages of his or her career. In practical terms, these are researchers who are conducting research five to ten years after obtaining their PhD.

The award is bestowed in recognition of “innovation in decision research”, as broadly understood within the SPUDM (Subjective Probability, Utility, and Decision Making) tradition. Dr Shalvi received the award for his innovations in the fields of ethical decision making and the development of cooperation. His work was described by the committee as highly creative both methodologically and theoretically, as well as influential across various disciplines including Economics, Psychology, and Management.
