The Center for Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics and Finance (CeNDEF)

The Center for Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics and Finance (CeNDEF) is a multi-disciplinary research group, started in October 1998, by a Pionier-grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). CeNDEF is located at the Amsterdam School of Economics, of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam.


The Center for Research in Experimental Economics and Political Decision making is a research institute at the Amsterdam School of Economics, University of Amsterdam.

Its research programme consists of three main projects:

  • Economics of Political Decision Making. The project focuses on the analysis of the behaviour of political decision makers, its consequences for government policies, and the impact on the economy.
  • Bounded Rationality and Institutions. In this project fundamental aspects of individual decision making are investigated.
  • Experimental Economics. Here the method of laboratory experimentation is used to study economic problems. Research in this project is particularly stimulated by, and provides feedback for, the two projects mentioned above.

Tinbergen Institute

Tinbergen Institute is one of Europe's leading graduate schools and research institutes in economics, econometrics and finance. TI is operated jointly by the Schools of Economics of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), University of Amsterdam (UvA) and VU University Amsterdam (VU) in the Netherlands.

The Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE)

The Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE) is a joint initiative of the economics and law faculties of the University of Amsterdam. The objective of the ACLE is to promote high-quality research in the fields at the interface of law and economics. The ACLE presently associates around twenty scholars in law and economics, ranging from full professors to PhD students. The Center's main focus areas are: Competition and Regulation, Corporate Governance and Law and Foundations of Law and Economics.

SEO Amsterdam Economics

SEO Amsterdam Economics conducts applied economic research on behalf of both public and private sector clients. Our research is fully independent, thus helping our clients to take the right decisions. SEO is affiliated with the University of Amsterdam and has extensive expertise in many markets. Our strength is our analytical approach, using a mix of quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques.
