ASE researcher ranked first in ‘Economentop 40’
In the 2018 ‘Economentop 40’ rankings listing the top 40 economists in the Netherlands, Hessel Oosterbeek, a professor at the Amsterdam School of Economics(ASE), was ranked in first place. The ranking is published annually by Economisch Statistische Berichten (ESB).
Oosterbeek’s research interest lies in the area of the economics of education. In his research, he tries to identify causal explanations. He published 14 articles in total.
In total six ASE academics were listed in the rankings: Hessel Oosterbeek (1), Thomas Buser (2), Theo Offerman (22), Arthur Schram (27), Randolph Sloof (31) and Sweder van Wijnbergen (37). In the rankings for institutions, the UvA was ranked fifth.
About the 'Economentop 40'
This ranking is compiled annually by ESB and uses the Web of Science database. Only articles appearing in the domain of economics are counted, and at least one of the authors must be affiliated with a Dutch university.
